Climate Change and Global Health: A Medical Anthropology Perspective

Climate change is considered a significant public health threat that affects human health both directly and indirectly. It is projected that between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause an additional 250,000 deaths annually and over the next 15 years to push more than 100 million people into poverty. The health consequences of climate change will not be equally distributed; social determinants influence the distribution of environmental burdens among countries and individuals. This article explores those consequences from a medical anthropology perspective.
