Cloudshadow is a technology enablement and consulting firm founded in 2017 by a team of technology executives to build products, processes, and businesses, both for its own ventures and for external clients. Headquartered in Moosic, Pennsylvania, the company operates at the intersection of product design, software engineering, and business transformation. Its approach combines research, system design, analysis, development, and business implementation, working closely with clients to translate organizational goals into working digital solutions rather than licensed off-the-shelf software.
The firm positions itself as a technology partner for data-heavy B2B industries. Its client base spans financial services, insurance, utilities and energytech, renewables and cleantech, sustainability, manufacturing, campus and institutional management, and higher education, and it has served start-ups, private equity backed companies, and Fortune 500 organizations. Cloudshadow delivers native applications, custom integrations, cloud migration services, cloud hosted solutions, and iOS and Android mobile applications, with its specialties listed as Venture Resources, Consulting, and ESG. Rather than reselling software, the firm starts from business needs and opportunities and builds custom digital solutions scaled to the organization at hand.
Working within this model, Matt Artz served as Head of Product and User Experience at Cloudshadow from 2019 to 2020, leading research, UX design, and product management for client engagements and internal ventures. His work brought design anthropology into the firm’s product development process, combining ethnographic research and business analysis to inform how digital products were conceived, designed, and delivered. The position connected strategy, design research, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and executive leadership.
Cloudshadow’s portfolio includes products and engagements with Artmatcher, Veritrove, Baker Tilly, Veeder-Root, Newmark, Talent Dimensions, Albireo Energy, and UM Technologies. Products designed and built by Cloudshadow have been featured at SXSW and at Apple’s Planet of the Apps. The executive team includes founder Scott Stiner, whose long-running collaboration with Cloudshadow preceded the firm’s current form and included the buildout of Taylor Consulting into an energy dashboard business that was later acquired by private-equity-backed Albireo Energy. Other leaders include Matthew Wheatley (founder of Veritrove), Geoff Speicher (Head of Engineering), and Karen Tomaine (General Counsel, formerly CEO of Taylor Consulting).
Matt transitioned from Cloudshadow to Artmatcher in 2021, continuing as Head of Product and User Experience for the art discovery platform Cloudshadow had helped build.
